Contents

In 1990, Dr. John Carroll introduced minimalism in his book The Nurnberg Funnel. I interviewed him in 2013 about the book and its follow-up Minimalism Beyond the Nurnberg Funnel, and in 2020 we re-examined minimalism 30 years later. Minimalism has continued to evolve over the years, and we are still talking about it and striving to achieve it. In this talk, I’ll discuss core principles, how users benefit, misconceptions, and share best practices.

Takeaways

The benefits, risks, and rewards of minimalism, as well as ways to make users successful by following minimalism best practices. Also practices to avoid when designing minimalist documentation.

Prior knowledge

No prior knowledge required, just the desire to learn more about minimalism.
