The presentation will cover the transition from one DITA-based Component Content Management System (CCMS) to another one. It will touch upon the pre-work for selecting a new CCMS. It will also include the prerequisites and internal resources needed for a successful system migration.
The main part of the presentation will focus on the strategy chosen for the migration process, such as not stopping production, and on impediments, such as invalid XML and duplicated content, and solutions for handling them. Key points will discuss the technical debt from custom-built tools, changes in authoring guidelines, integrating with other systems, and metadata.
Furthermore, the presentation will address the staggered onboarding approach for different business units, as well as the process of selecting content for migration.
Takeaways
The listeners will learn about common migration strategies, communication challenges, and training sessions to ensure a smooth transition. Even though both systems use DITA, there is no plug-and-play transfer possible.
