Virtually into the Future
tcworld conference and tekom fair 2020 break new ground
Forge of knowledge, mediator of competence, source of ideas, source of inspiration, point of contact, stage, discussion forum, contact pool – the tcworld conference brings together participants, speakers, students and exhibitors of "technical communication" from all over the world to form the industry’s largest online meeting place.
2020 – A special year, a special conference
After thoroughly observing the situation and examining various concepts and scenarios, we have decided to take the purely digital route for the tcworld conference and tekom fair. Even though the hybrid concept of the conference seemed feasible by November, the restrictions/conditions for trade fair organizers unfortunately also put a damper on our plans. A fruitful and direct exchange between exhibitors, speakers and visitors would simply not be possible in a sterile environment with a strictly regulated hygiene concept. That's why – not least because of our thoroughly positive experience at tekom SummerCON – we are counting on a virtual event and are putting all our energy into providing all participants with an enriching, productive event!
From November 2–6, 24 lectures will be presented daily in German and English, spread over four topic tracks. After each presentation, participants will have the opportunity to chat and discuss in the meetups. All presentations will be recorded so that participants will still have access to them for three months after the meeting.
The early bird price for the virtual meeting, including the recordings as well as group tickets for companies, is valid until October 5, 2020!
An event app has been designed to help conference and fair visitors to make contact with each other and to follow the exhibitors' tool presentations, for example. At the same time, this app can be used to arrange appointments for virtual talks with the respective exhibitors.
In addition to the tcworld conference, the tekom fair with software manufacturers and service providers from all over the world will also be a virtual event. It offers technical communication professionals, primarily technical writers from almost all industry sectors, a unique opportunity for a comprehensive market overview. The tool presentations should not be missing here either.
Relevant and applicable knowledge for everyday work is offered in almost every topic area of technical communication – from terminology, UX and mobile documentation to software documentation and standards. Following the positive response to the Call for Papers, the presentations and workshops will be selected and packed into an exciting program over the next few days. Even digitally, the qualitative demands on the speakers and the content of the presentations remain the same!
2020 challenges us all, demanding everything from us. More than ever, we need to think ahead and rethink, using prudence, cohesion and creativity. But the greater the challenge, the more we can surpass and grow beyond ourselves to create something new.
We’re going new ways – go with us!
