After completing his studies in political science, sociology, and philosophy, Frank Neidhart began his professional career in 1992 in the Technical Documentation department at TRUMPF. He has been heading this department since 2001. It is quite likely that he will remain with the company until retirement, as routine and boredom will continue to stand no chance against the allure of ever-new topics and projects. From creating technical documentation on a typewriter to using the first digital camera—purchased in the last millennium for 20,000 DM—introducing an editorial guide based on functional design, implementing a content management system, a terminology database, a content delivery portal, and a language checking tool, all the way to machine-assisted translation, he has accompanied the transformation of the technical documentation field within the TRUMPF Group. Looking ahead, he sees future challenges particularly in the cross-departmental integration of information and the order-specific configuration of customer documentation.
