Clear and precise descriptions are essential in technical documentation, yet they often present challenges when teams aim for standardization and simplicity. Descriptive writing can be a description of an item, a product, a system, or a component, its functions, how it is made and how it operates. It can also be a text that gives general information, for example, reports, brochures, and papers, or a note in a procedure. This interactive workshop focuses on descriptive writing with ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English (STE). Participants learn how to apply STE rules to describe components, systems, and processes in a consistent and unambiguous way. Through guided exercises, the session demonstrates how authors can reduce complexity, control vocabulary, and structure information so that descriptions remain clear for global audiences. The workshop combines short theoretical input with practical group work so that participants apply STE principles directly to realistic technical content.
Takeaways
Participants gain practical experience with ASD-STE100 for descriptive writing and improve clarity, consistency, and readability through exercises and structured feedback.
