Birgit Fuhrmann

Birgit Fuhrmann is Chairperson of the Executive Board of tekom Europe since April 2026 and brings more than 14 years of professional experience spanning industry, academia, and research including leadership experience.
She is an expert in Technical Communication and holds a bachelor's degree in Translation with a specialization in Technical Communication and a master’s degree in applied linguistics with a specialisation in Organisational Communication from ZHAW. Currently, she is a lecturer, head of team of Technical Communication, and head of Human AI Interaction Lab at ZHAW Applied Linguistics in Winterthur. She is dedicated to research and teaching in the field of Technical Communication and in the Human AI Interaction lab, applying her diverse experience from practice and science to create benefits in this field.
An active tekom member since 2020, she regularly contributes as a speaker, workshop facilitator, and author of professional articles. She is particularly committed to strengthening the visibility of technical communication across Europe and supporting the next generation of professionals.
