Vita

Sabine Mahr is a graduate translator, computational linguist and technical writer and has been working as a self‑employed technical communicator and technical communication consultant since 2003. Her work focuses on technical documentation for telecommunication and utility network operators as well as on consulting on information development processes in this domain.

Sabine is convenor of IEC/TC 3 (Documentation, graphical symbols and representations of technical information), which maintains and further develops the IEC 82079 series of standards on technical communication, and project leader in ISO/TC 37/WG 10 (Language and terminology – Technical communication).

In addition, Sabine is an active member of several international and European standardization committees dealing with digital representations of business objects and processes, for example in the context of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

To better understand how existing knowledge needs to be modelled so that it can support retrieval‑augmented generation in AI systems (e.g., by using ontologies and knowledge graphs), Sabine started a career‑integrated Master’s programme in Applied Artificial Intelligence in late 2025.
