This presentation will focus on the challenges and opportunities faced when working in a diverse environment on the inside and speaking the same language to all our customers. Being located in the US, Europe, and Asia, we are both local and global. This brings cultural differences, technology deployment, legislation, and complex workflows all at the same time.

We will start by defining the main goal: building a sustainable culture and why we need it. We’ll share what we faced along the way and how we decided we needed a global approach versus being completely local. We’ll show examples of what goals we set, the strategy we took, where it went wrong, and where it went right. We’ll outline management challenges and where the opportunities are when you are local and global.

  • Grand Picture: The management role in deploying the company goals.
  • Clockwork Goal: Bring everyone together and build multiple teams operating on a 24-hour workflow without a hitch.
  • Culture, Geography & Technology: Creating a strong team culture in an organization that is spread around the world.
  • Q&A Session: Engage with the audience for further insights and discussions.

Takeaways

In this session, we will aim to have something for different-sized companies, so each person in the audience can bring some experience back to their own team. We will strive to deliver as much as possible from our experience on the topic at hand: practical knowledge of working in a global environment and building a sustainable culture at various levels in the company, and difficulties to consider.

  • Potential Solutions: Challenges and opportunities of operating globally and locally.
  • Real-life Experiences: Choosing the direction and goals for your company, deployment plan, and criteria for success.
  • Cultural Navigation: Tips on navigating multiple cultures, various perspectives, and teams in Asia, Europe, and the US.
  • Building a Strong Culture: Tips on building a healthy and strong company culture where everyone works towards a common goal.
  • Lessons Learned: Where it went wrong and what we learned from it.
  • Global Expansion Considerations: What to consider when you want to go global, open an office at another location, and an approach to navigating the various cultures.
  • Difficulties and Benefits: Where you may face difficulties and what could be the potential benefits.

The session may serve as a validator for some of the people in the room who already have experience in the sphere. We would like to share as much knowledge from our practical experience as possible from the locations we have knowledge of, which might be of value if you are either looking to expand or already have.
