Vita

Matthias Schulz, *1962, state certified English translator for technical information, managing director of HiQ text GmbH, a language service provider in Lütetsburg, Germany. Matthias manages the tekom expert forum "Directives and standards". Since 1992 he has been dealing intensively with the EC Machinery Directive and all aspects of CE marking. He has authored a number of publications on phrasing and design of safety notes and warning messages, operating instructions, risk assessment, comprehensibility of text and terminology management. He is a reknowned trainer, giving seminars particularly for VDI the german association of engineers in Stuttgart, Germany. For 1999 to 2008 he taught technical law at the University of Applied Sciences in Aalen, Germany.
